Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 9, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Diezl (“we,” “our,” or “us”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Diezl application (the “Application”) on mobile devices (iOS/Android) or web browsers. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring transparency about our data practices.

Important Note: Account creation and authentication features are only available on mobile devices (iOS/Android). The web version of the Application does not support account creation, authentication, or saving load calculations to cloud storage.

Information We Collect

Account Information (Mobile Only)

Email Address: On mobile devices, we collect your email address when you create an account using our email OTP (One-Time Password) authentication system. Your email is used for account authentication and communication purposes.

Web Users: Web users do not create accounts and we do not collect email addresses from web users.

Profile Information (Mobile Only)

Name: On mobile devices, you may optionally provide your name when setting up your profile. This information is stored securely in our database.

Web Users: Web users do not have profiles and we do not collect profile information from web users.

Usage Data

Load Calculations: The Application stores your load calculation history and data locally on your device, including:

  • Origin and destination locations (city and state)
  • Rate information (flat rate or per-mile rate)
  • Loaded miles, weight, and deadhead miles
  • Fuel efficiency settings
  • Equipment type selections
  • Cost adjustment preferences (factoring fees, dispatch fees, fixed costs)

Smart Paste Events: When you use the Smart Paste feature, the Application tracks usage events locally, including timestamps and parsing results. This data is stored on your device only.

User Preferences

The Application stores your preferences locally, including:

  • Fuel efficiency (MPG) settings
  • Factoring fee preferences
  • Dispatch fee preferences
  • Fixed cost per mile settings
  • Voice input privacy prompt state and related speech-to-text UI preferences

Voice Input (Speech-to-Text)

  • When Voice Is Used: If you choose to use "Speak load details," the Application requests microphone and speech recognition permissions from your device OS.
  • What Is Processed: Your spoken input is transcribed into text so you can review/edit it in the load details field.
  • Audio Handling: We do not intentionally store raw voice recordings on our servers.
  • Transcribed Text: If you choose to process transcribed text with Smart Paste, it follows the Smart Paste processing flow described in this policy.

Location Data

When you use the “Use my location” feature to estimate deadhead miles:

  • We request foreground location permission only when you explicitly choose to use this feature.
  • Your current coordinates are used solely to calculate the driving distance between your location and the load pickup point.
  • This coordinate is passed to Google Maps API to compute that distance and is not stored on our servers.
  • We do not log, retain, or associate your location with your account or load history.
  • You can deny or revoke location permission at any time in device Settings without affecting other app functionality.

Feedback and Support

User Feedback: If you choose to provide feedback through in-app prompts, we collect your responses (binary yes/no answers) and any additional details you provide. This information is stored securely and helps us improve the Application.

Analytics and Error Tracking

Web Analytics

On the web version of the Application, we use PostHog to collect analytics data and session recordings. This includes:

  • Page views and navigation patterns
  • User interactions (with sensitive data masked)
  • Device and browser information
  • Session replay recordings (with aggressive privacy masking)

Privacy Protections: PostHog session replays use aggressive masking to protect sensitive information. All numeric values (prices, rates, weights, miles), locations (cities, states, ZIP codes), and input fields are automatically masked in recordings.

Error Tracking

On mobile (iOS/Android), we use Sentry to collect crash reports and error logs. This includes:

  • Error messages and stack traces
  • Device information (OS version, device model)
  • Technical diagnostic data

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide Services: Authenticate your account, store your preferences, and enable load calculation features
  • Enable Voice Transcription: Convert spoken load details into editable text
  • Improve the Application: Analyze usage patterns, fix bugs, and enhance user experience
  • Support: Respond to your feedback and provide customer support
  • Compliance: Meet legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service

Data Storage and Security

Local Storage

Load calculation data, preferences, and Smart Paste events are stored locally on your device using:

  • Mobile (iOS/Android): AsyncStorage
  • Web: localStorage

Voice-related UI preference/state (for example, whether a voice privacy prompt has been shown) may also be stored locally on your device.

Cloud Storage

  • User Account Data (Mobile Only): On mobile devices, your email address and profile information are stored securely in Supabase, our authentication and database provider. Web users do not have accounts.
  • User Feedback: Feedback submissions are stored in Supabase. On mobile, feedback is associated with your user account. On web, feedback uses anonymous user IDs (no account required).
  • Session Information (Mobile Only): On mobile devices, authentication sessions are stored locally and expire after 7 days of inactivity. Web users do not have authentication sessions.

Security Measures

We use industry-standard security practices, including:

  • Encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data transmission
  • Secure authentication using Supabase Auth with OTP verification
  • Row-level security policies to help ensure users can only access their own data
  • Regular security updates and monitoring

Third-Party Services

The Application uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

Authentication and Database

Supabase: Provides user authentication and database services (mobile only). On mobile devices, your account data is stored on Supabase's servers. Web users do not have accounts. See Supabase Privacy Policy.

Analytics and Tracking

PostHog: Used for web analytics and session replay. See PostHog Privacy Policy.

Sentry: Used for error tracking on mobile applications. See Sentry Privacy Policy.

APIs and Services

Google Maps API: Used for distance calculations and location geocoding. When you use location features, your location data may be sent to Google. Your current location coordinates may be sent to Google Maps API when you use the deadhead estimation feature. Google processes this data per their Privacy Policy. See Google Privacy Policy.

OpenAI API: Used for Smart Paste text parsing. When you use Smart Paste, your pasted text is sent to our backend service, which forwards it to OpenAI for analysis. See OpenAI Privacy Policy.

U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) API: Used to fetch fuel price data. We proxy requests through our backend to keep API keys secure. See EIA Terms of Use.

Device Speech Recognition Services (Apple iOS / Android OS): Voice-to-text may rely on native operating system speech recognition capabilities and related platform terms.

Smart Paste Feature

Important: When you use the Smart Paste feature:

  • The text you paste is sent to our backend server
  • Our backend server forwards this text to OpenAI's API for parsing
  • OpenAI processes the text according to their terms of service and privacy policy
  • The parsed information is returned to your device and used to populate load calculation fields
  • We do not store the pasted text on our servers after processing

By using Smart Paste, you acknowledge that your pasted text will be processed by OpenAI according to their terms of service.

Voice Input Feature

When you use voice input:

  • The app requests microphone and speech recognition permissions from your device OS
  • Spoken input is transcribed into text and inserted into the load details field
  • You can edit or delete transcribed text before processing
  • You can stop voice input at any time
  • You can revoke permissions at any time in device Settings
